So you know you need to take your IT security seriously, but what next?
Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus are the perfect place to start in protecting your business from cyber crime, which can come in the form of malware, viruses, loss of data and much more.
Managed effectively, the government backed Cyber Essentials accreditation is a robust method of making sure you have covered all the bases against the most common and prolific types of cyber attack. It's for businesses of all sizes and across all sectors, although in some government departments you are required to meet the certification to do business with them, something that will filter its way down local government and their supply chains.
What does it cost?
Well that varies depending on the size and complexity of the technology used in the business, but certification for SME's is around £300-400 for straight forward certification assessment, ranging upwards if you require consultancy and implementation options.
The base level of cyber essentials is through self certification, but with evidence required to show how the business adheres to each part of the accreditation standard, and how the standard is maintained. The Cyber Essentials Plus certification also requires independent testing of your networks to gain certification.
When you can demonstrate you meet the required standards you will be issued with your Cyber Essentials Certificate of Compliance which is valid for one year.
